I don't normally blog on a weekday but I thought I should today.

I've been really stressed at work lately to the point I eat, sleep, drink, breathe, think of work. It's partly because I'm leading an event which is happening real soon, the experience is exciting but I'm literally pulling my hair doing this.

So I'm trying to cope with work stress. I actually googled it okay LOL!

Coping Mechanism That Does Not Work (for me)

1. Meditating/Yoga

Well f*ck that shit. Whenever I try meditating all I can think of is "very dark, very very dark" "I should do something else" "enough of this shit"

Yoga? I remember enrolling for Yoga classes in Singapore, during class I just wanted it to end because it hurts. LOL

2. Oil Painting

At one point it was really relaxing until I want it to be perfectly done. FML. I do miss paining tho, let me show off a bit here. I think I did pretty good for someone who can't even draw a cat.

Not bad right?
3. Running/Jogging

Someone told me before that running helps to ease the mind. Nope.

What Might Work:

1. Muay Thai/Kick Boxing

Times were dark for me when I enrolled for Muay Thai obviously when you have a sucky ex boyfriend whom you wanna punch all the time. The only way I could channel all of my anger is to punch something and hey! It worked :D

2. Travel

How can you not love travelling and let yourself go. It's one of the best feelings ever.

Oh, I really need sleep. I really do.

Had a food tasting session at Sheng Kee, 1 Utama last Tuesday. I guess, it is my first officia food tasting event where I get to write a review on it. Yeap! I’m super excited so here goes!

Basically, Sheng Kee is a Hong Kong specialised restaurant, the chef himself is local but he worked in Hong Kong for many years and hey, they just opened their first outlet in KL.

So the food served was rather authentic and what I really love about this place is that it served all kinds of Hong Kong dishes such as Dim Sum, Wanton Noodles, and etc. So that kinda save a lot of time at least for me if I ever have sudden cravings for dim sum or wonton noodles.

We were given a choice to select either the Green Lime with Plum Juice or Lychee Mint. Well, obviously I chose the Green Lime!

When you think of Dim Sum, you think of Siew Mai of course. The most common or the first dim sum you will probably eat when you’re young till you’re old. So it is crucial that the filling of the Siew Mai should be well seasoned, the meat/prawns should be juicy when you take the first bite. I am a fussy dim sum eater and this is pretty good! I wanted to take a picture of my half eaten siew mai but let’s not do that because it’s ugly. Also, the HK Carrot Cake is crispy and not oily like most carrot cakes that I usually have in Dim Sum stalls. It is because it has been fried slowly in low heat to give it the crisp and flavour without burning it. It is like rendering duck fat in low heat to get the crispiness of its skin.

Oh ya, they served a side of fried salmon skin…and I LOVE IT! So freaking crispy please.

Next up, was one of Sheng Kee's specialties:

The wonton noodles served with braised pork. Look at that glistening fat of the pork.

SK Signature Combination Noodles

I kid you not that the meat was so tender and the fats just melts in your mouth. That is one kind of happiness in the mouth that can never be explained.

The next dish served was the Braised Pork Belly with Mui Choy Rice. Mui Choy, is preserved mustard greens if you do not know.

I think the Braised Pork Belly and Mui Choy is a traditional dish and it is a known fact that these ingredients on a dish goes perfectly well together.

We had some activities after the Braised Pork Belly with Mui Choy Rice. We had to make their signature bun, the Snowy Char Siew Bun.

I was in the yellow team with another blogger and we got the best looking buns. lol..best looking buns
Snowy Char Siew Buns
That's how the Snowy Char Siew Buns are suppose to look like. These Snowy buns are really special, there's a outer layer of cream/custard ish filling? That covers up the bun.

The outer layer was crispy, salty and slightly sweet then it comes to the centre where the filling is. Everything just works you know. The modification of a traditional char siew bun.

The SK Mango Pomelo Sago was really yummy, firstly what's really special about this dessert is that they use Philippine Mangoes and apparently it is the best type of mango. It is not only sweet but it is fragrant as well.

The Yuan Yang Paste is of Almond Paste and Black Sesame Paste. I am not a fan of almond honestly but this is pretty alright for me.

That concludes a night of stuffing my face with good food of course.

Toodles!

Gnocchi with Blue Cheese and Tomato Sauce

Waffles & Ice-Cream, Inside Scoop
Niro and Shin D <3
Celebrated an early birthday with Niroshah and Shin Dhee last week, I think it was 2 days before my actual birthday. We went to Verona Trattoria in PJ for a hearty Italian meal and also that is my favourite Italian Restaurant. Of course dinner wouldn't be complete with dessert so we head over to Inside Scoop for Waffles & Ice-cream. These two people are some of my favourite people to talk to really.

Thank you for bringing me out for dinner and for being awesome :)!

Rocku Yakiniku

The next day, I had dinner with my colleagues from work to celebrate both Daniel and my birthday at Rocku Yakiniku. If you do not know what Rocku Yakiniku is, it is a Japanese Grill Buffet and it is VERY WORTH IT! Oh, I had an emotional roller coaster ride on this one because Hun surprised me.

Thank you guys for being so awesome :')

Ah! They gave me a really cute card and a gift but I forgot to take a picture of it.

I absolutely love this woman

Trying very hard to surprise me LOL

Mr. Hun

Beef Carpaccio with Rocket Leaves and Truffles

On my actual birthday, Hun brought me to Prego, Westin for dinner. Yeap, it is an Italian Restaurant. There are few things that I absolutely love having and will not get bored of it:

1. Teluk Intan Chee Cheong Fan
2. Thai Food
3. Italian Food

To think of it, even last year I celebrated my birthday in an Italian Restaurant in Singapore, Jamie Oliver's Italian and had the best Tiramisu ever!

Hun surprised me with heels as well to fit my outfit for the night but I think my ankles suffered the night with terrible blisters (it is still recovering) Nonetheless, thank you for everything from secretly planning something with my work colleagues and bringing me on such a sweet dinner. Love you :)

Melissa (Dorinda Gym) and Ching Mun

The 17th Floor is the place to be to take photos. Not sure if the people in the office on the 17th floor have been judging us LOL.

So we had a farewell for Dorinda Gym and Ching Mun on Friday. Yeah, I didn't get the memo to wear black hence my vibrant outfit (on my defence, I had a half day leave) Well, I'm gonna miss them both. These girls have such bubbly personalities, I think it's infectious.

I miss France! I miss Toulouse especially where the people are warm and friendly and the food is to die for. This was 2 years ago when I went for my school trip to Paris and Toulouse, even though my journey was umm sickening lol (I was sick the entire time when I was in France, I even fell asleep eating my pasta and I'm not even kidding)

Hun brought a bunch of us to Pizza Lopez, Carmes to have some amazing hot pizzas. The feeling of having hot pizzas during autumn-winter was just heavenly and the amazing part is the pizzas are so cheap! BRING ME BACK PLEASE.

I think if i ever stayed in France for 3 months, I'll become fat and start rolling back to Malaysia.

With the Birthday Girl

The girls from the Volleyball team. Yeah, I used to play Volleyball, I was told it would make me taller! It was all a lie :(
Talking about sports, I played a number of sports actually when I was in secondary school. Played sports like tennis(quite terrible in tennis actually), volleyball and softball (I'm better in this! LOL)
Celebrated Yan Teng's Birthday on the 12th March last month at La Bodega, I think it has been a while since we celebrated birthdays :) Well didn't take much pictures of the food at La Bodega because I thought it was just so-so. The paella was really not paella-ish?

"Pigs in a blanket"

I love them ribs.

With the birthday girl, Niroshah! We had our dinner at Naughty Babe, Dirty Duck. Somehow the name reminded me of Naughty Nuri's. The ribs are really good, oh damn I'm craving for some now.

I actually joined the Viper Challenge, I don't know why I did. I think it was just at the heat of the moment where everyone is talking about it so enthusiastically and some of the enthusiasm just spread to me (Does that even make sense?) I went with my colleagues and it's funny because half of the team doesn't work out! Actually it was just Laura and I who didn't train for this. Well hey, I'm quite surprise that I have stamina although the night before I only had an hour of sleep  nap. (We took the 6am session by the way)

I have to admit I skipped a number of challenges, challenges that require long hands to cross a pool of muddy water and challenges that requires strength. But at the end of it all, it was a really good experience. Samantha told me that the next Viper Challenge would probably be in Genting, so let's do this one more time! Hopefully with training this time. LOL.
